This renovation modernizes a classic Christchurch villa for a young family, blending traditional character with contemporary design. The goal was to create a practical, light-filled home that respects the original structure while introducing fresh, modern living spaces.

​

The first stage has reworked the kitchen, dining, lounge, and master suite to improve spatial flow and incorporate thoughtful design elements. Custom wall paneling along the staircase adds texture and depth, while steel-framed arched doors introduce a refined contrast to the soft interior details.

The interiors have been carefully curated by the award-winning interior designer owner, ensuring a balance between style and functionality. The spaces are calm, elegant, and well-suited to family life, with every detail considered for both comfort and practicality.

 

Looking ahead, the next phase will introduce a sunken living area, featuring vertical tray metal cladding that contrasts with the villa’s classic weatherboard exterior. This addition will open up to the garden, creating a relaxed space that connects seamlessly with the outdoors. Although still to be built, the design continues the theme of integrating modern and traditional elements.

 

Construction is also underway on a new garage and entry pergola, which will further define the home’s presence from the street and tie into the overall design aesthetic.

 

This renovation is about creating a home that is both timeless and practical, where thoughtful design enhances the villa’s character while integrating modern touches for the future.
